FULLERTON, Calif. – Entering the day atop the leaderboard, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team held on to the top spot to claim the 2013 Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Princeville Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.

Holding a four-stroke lead over Louisville, the Titans shot a 276 (-12), their highest round of the tournament, finishing the three rounds of play at 42-under par (822). The Cardinals tallied a final round score of 273 (-15) to make a late push, but fell just short.

Fullerton edged Louisville at 41-under par (823) by just one stroke, while Mississippi State shot a final round score of 275 (-13) to finish in the invitation 38-under par (826) and in third place.

The tournament victory gives the Titans their eighth overall event championship and first back-to-back tournament wins since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season.

Fullerton's Mark Anguiano finished in first with Mississippi State's Chad Ramey and Louisville's Robert Geibel after shooting 2-under par (70) on Wednesday to finish at 15-under par (201). Geibel shot a final round 5-under par (67) to move him up the leaderboard from third to first and won the first playoff hole over Anguiano and Ramey to claim the individual title. Anguiano entered the day tied at 13-under par with Ramey, who also shot a 70 in the final round.

Anguiano finished his 12th consecutive round at par of better to start the season. Junior Ryan Tetrault moved up from a tie for 18th, entering the final round, to finish tied for sixth place with a 11-under par 205 following a third round 65 (-7).  Tetrault's third round 65 ties him with Anguiano for the lowest single round by a Titan since 2009.

Senior Josh Park also moved up the leaderboard, finishing the invitational tied for 18th, with his final round 69 (-3). Over the final 36 holes, Park moved from 39th place to 18th. Senior Corey Gard and freshman Kyle De Silva shot 72 and 76, respectively, over the final 18 holes. Gard finished the tournament 5-under par (211), in a tie for 20th. De Silva finished 1-over par (217) in a tie for 52nd to round out the Titan lineup.

The Titans will now head into a winter break before starting the spring portion of the schedule in the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tuscon, Ariz., on Jan 27-28, 2014.
