CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. -- After a record-setting second round on Monday, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team faded in the final round on Tuesday afternoon, slipping to fourth place to close out the 2013 Folino Invitational Presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California at the Industry Hills Golf Club.

Finishing the first 36 holes at 10-over-par and trailing second-round leader UC Irvine by just nine strokes, the Titans shot a final-round 311 under cloudy, cold, and rainy skies on Tuesday to finish at 23-over-par on the day and fall two shots behind third-place Loyola Marymount. Long Beach State, which was second after each of the first two rounds, finished 10 strokes better than the Anteaters on the final day and finished at 8-over-par for the tournament -- four shots better than UCI in second place -- to claim its second-consecutive Folino Invitational title.

The 49ers won the 2012 Folino crown with a 15-over-par 879.

UC Irvine's Travis Russell claimed individual honors after winning the third hole of a playoff with Sacramento State's Ryan Williams and Loyola Marymount's Tyler Torano, the individual co-champion from a year ago. The trio finished 54 holes tied at 2-under-par to force the tiebreaker.

Sophomore Ryan Tetrault, who set a tournament single-round record with a 66 on Monday and entered the day in a tie for fifth, paced the Titans on Tuesday, shooting a final-round 76 to finish with a 4-over-par 220 and end in a tie for eighth. Tetrault paced a group of five Fullerton players in the top 15 as redshirt freshman Mark Jensma, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 10th at 5-over-par (221), and junior Josh Park, also competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 12th at 6-over-par (222) along with teammate Dakota Duerr.

Junior Mark Anguiano, who entered the day in ninth place at 2-over-par, finished in 15th after a final-round 78, finishing with 8-over-par 224 for the tournament. Teammate Corey Gard, who co-led the tournament in par five scoring (-6), finished in a tie for 27th at 16-over-par (232) while Michael Choe was in a tie for 36th with a 19-over-par 235. Darren Saqui, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 49th with a 30-over-par 246.

Cal State Fullerton jumps right back into action next week as the Titans head to the Del Walker Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State at the Virginia Country Club.
