Titans Finish Second

NIPOMO, Calif. -- Senior Dakota Duerr shot a 4-under Round 2 card and then finished the day with a 2-under 68 to lead Cal State Fullerton to a second-place finish to the host, Cal Poly, at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at the Monarch Dunes Golf Club.

Junior Corey Gard finished with a 214 over the final 36 holes, which was good enough for a tie for seventh. Junior Mark Anguiano wrapped up in a tie for 11th with a 216, while Ryan Tetrault's 217 landed him in a four-way tie for 14th. As a team Cal State Fullerton's 251 was 11 strokes better than third-place finishers, UC Riverside.

The Mustangs, who had five golfers shoot rounds in the 60s on Tuesday (only four count), posted their second-best four-person 18-hole total to finish with the win on 847 strokes.

Round 2, which began yesterday but was called because of darkness, concluded this morning before players headed back out onto the course for the final 18 holes approximately an hour later.

Fullerton is next in action at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley at the Northridge Tournament in two weeks.
