Cal State Fullerton Men's Golf in Third

NIPOMO, Calif. -- Junior Corey Gard fired a two-under 68 during round 1 action to pace Cal State Fullerton to a third place tie on the day at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational on Monday at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course. Gard sits in a sixth-place tie individually.

Cal State Northridge leads Seattle by one stroke and the Titans are tied with UC Riverside with a 287, just three strokes off the lead.

Junior Mark Anguiano's par (70) was good enough for the 10th spot individually, while sophomore Ryan Tetrault's 73 lands him in a tie at 18. Senior Dakota Duerr carded a 76 (T39), to round out scoring for the Titans as a team.

The second round of play later Monday was suspended due to darkness with all players still on the course with three or four holes to play. The second round will be completed Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., with the final round to follow at about 10:30 a.m.
