Long Beach, Calif. - Jibril Hodges scored 17 points and Shawn Hawkins added 16 Wednesday night as Long Beach State rode hot 3-point field goal shooting to an 88-79 Big West Conference victory over visiting Cal State Fullerton.

Justin Burns scored a career-high 21 points and had 8 rebounds for the Titans, who fell to 11-11 and 4-8 in the Big West. Long Beach is now 12-11 and 7-5.

The 49ers equalled a school record with 14 3-point field goals in only 26 tries, 8 of 13 in the first half. Six different players made treys led by Hodges with 5 in 8 tries.

Frank Robinson made 4 of 4 from 3-point land for the Titans but his teammates were only 1 of 10. Robinson just missed a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Long Beach led by 13 at the half and as many as 22 in the second half before the Titans made a belated rush.

The 49ers opened the second half with a 10-2 run as Fullerton didn't get a field goal until the 15:00 mark.

"They were playing on a whole different level than they did at our place," said CSF Head Coach Bob Burton about the 49ers. "They really had their offense working, penetrating and kicking it out for the threes.

"We couldn't defend them, we couldn't score and we couldn't finish. We shot like we were panicked."

Bobby Brown didn't score until the second half but finished with 11 points and passed Cedric Ceballos to move into eighth place on the CSF career scoring list with 1,1,287 points.

Fullerton hosts Eastern Washington at 2:05 p.m. in an ebay Bracket Buster game while Long Beach State must travel to play at Manhattan.
