FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped its home opener to Tulane Friday night at Goodwin Field by a score of 1-0. The Titans are now 2-3 on the year.
Tanner Bibee was dominant on the mound for the Titans but ultimately recorded the loss to move to 1-1 this season. Bibee pitched 8.1 innings, allowing just six hits and one earned run while striking out nine batters.
Zach Lew recorded a base hit in his first at-bat and has now recorded a hit in five consecutive games to start the season. Lew leads the team with a .400 batting average this season.
On the other side, Tulane pitcher Braden Olthoff had a great night, pitching a complete game while allowing just three hits and striking out a career-high 16 strikeouts.
The Titans return to Goodwin Field Saturday night looking to even up the series at a game apiece. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
