Titans Rally With a Five-Run Inning to Defeat UC Davis

FULLERTON, Calif. – After a slow start the Titans (19-23, 6-8) rallied from down five runs to win the game 11-9 over UC Davis (16-24, 7-10) Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

The Titans trailed by a score of 7-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, however, the team strung together six straight innings with at least one run including the sixth inning where they scored five runs to take the lead.

Isaiah Garcia had an impactful game for the Titans as he went 1-for-3 with one run and a career-high five RBI. Garcia's previous career-high was three RBI against Cal Poly.

Jairus Richards had a career day at the plate as well, going a perfect 3-for-3 which ties a career-high, to go along with three RBI and two runs.

Kameron Guangorena went 2-for-4 at the dish with a walk and two runs. AJ Curtis record two hits in five at-bats with one RBI and one run. Jason Brandow and Brett Borgogno each recorded a hit to go along with two walks and two runs.

Matthew Sanchez come on in relief in the seventh inning and pitched lights out as he struck out three batters in the inning while only allowing one hit in the seventh to earn his first Division I win to move to 1-0.

Michael Weisberg got the Titans out of a jam in the eighth inning as he come on with runners on first and second and no outs before ending the inning on just two pitches with help from a double play turned by Hank LoForte and Borgogno. Dillon Brown earned his second save of the season as he come on in the ninth inning and didn't allow a single hit.

Fullerton returns to Goodwin Field Sunday afternoon looking to clinch the series in the rubber game against UC Davis with first pitch at 1:00 p.m. PT.
