Offensive Explosion Leads Titans to Victory Over UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The Titans offense broke through for 10 runs Tuesday night to tie the season series with UC Irvine after defeating them 10-4 at Anteater Ballpark. The season series is now tied 2-2, keeping the Anteaters without a season series win against Fullerton in over 10 years.

The Titans took an early lead as the scored two runs in the third inning on RBI's from Jacob Pavletich and Isaiah Garcia to score Zach Lew and Daniel Cope, giving Fullerton the much needed early confidence.

Fullerton then broke the game open in the top of the fifth innings, scoring six runs on four hits. Zach Lew and Mitchell Berryhill started the inning with a walk and a base hit. Garcia later singled to center field, scoring Lew and picking up his second RBI of the game.

With two outs and the bases loaded Kameron Guangorena hit a two RBI single to right field, scoring Berryhill and Garcia. One batter later with runners on first and third Jason Brandow crushed a three run home run to left field for his second home run of the season.

Mitchell Berryhill went 2-for-4 with one run Tuesday night against UC Irvine to improve his batting average to .444 on the season which leads the entire country. Berryhill would be the first Titan to win the national batting title if he can stay atop the rankings.

AJ Curtis had one of his best games as a Titan as he recorded a career-high four hits on four at-bats with two doubles, one RBI and two runs. Curtis single in the top of the eighth inning to score Jordan Hernandez for his first RBI of the game and extended the Titans lead to 10-4.

Dillon Brown started the game on the mound for the Titans and went 2.1 innings, giving up five hits and one earned run. Gavin Velasquez come on in relief and pitch 2.2 inning while allowing three hits and two earned runs.

Titus Groeneweg pitched two inning and gave up just two hits and allowed just one earned run. Groeneweg hit in the seventh inning and had a strong at-bat before reaching base on a fielding error from the Anteaters shortstop which allowed Curtis to score.

Jimmy Endersby pitched in his first game since he played against USC on March 12. Endersby pitched one inning and gave up two hits while striking out two batters. Evan Larsen came on in relief in the ninth with the bases loaded and no outs and didn't allow a single hit to close out the game for Fullerton.

The Titans return home to Goodwin Field this weekend with a three-game series against UC Davis beginning Friday night at 7:00 p.m. PT. Saturday's game will be played a 2:00 p.m. before wrapping up the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. PT.
