SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (14-14, 3-3) outscored Cal Poly 35-13 in three games as they dominated the Mustangs 16-6 to clinch the rubber game Sunday afternoon at Baggett Stadium.

Sixteen runs ties a season-high runs from Friday night's win over Cal Poly. With the win Sunday it is the first time Fullerton has won a series in San Luis Obispo since the 2013 season. The Titans are now 6-1 on Sunday's.

The Titans scored multiple runs in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to help build an insurmountable lead over the Mustangs. Fullerton put up four runs in the third inning with help from sophomore Brett Borgogno who hit his first career home run over the left-field fence to start the inning.

Fullerton's offense wasn't done there, two batters later Mitchell Berryhill drew a walk followed by a double down the left-field line by Sahid Valenzuela to advance Berryhill to third. Daniel Cope then reached on a throwing error from the Cal Poly shortstop, allowing Berryhill to score.

Berryhill had an unbelievable game and an unbelievable weekend. Sunday Berryhill went 3-for-3 with three walks, two runs and two RBI. Berryhill did not get out on Saturday or Sunday as he went a combined 6-for-6 with four walks. The senior only recorded two outs throughout the whole weekend with a total statline for the weekend of 10-for-12 with six walks, six runs and three RBI. The Utah Native is now hitting .439 on the season with 18 RBI and 16 runs.

Following a walk from freshman catcher Kameron Guangorena, Jairus Richards came up clutch with runners in scoring position as he has all season long, recording a single up the middle to drive in Valenzuela and Cope, giving the Titans a 5-1 lead after the top of the third inning. Richards an impressive day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Richards is hitting .302 on the season with 12 RBI.

Cal Poly would answer the Titans in the bottom half of the fourth inning to cut Fullerton's lead to 5-3. However, the Titans quickly responded in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three runs on back-to-back home runs from Jake Pavletich and Borgogno, his second of the day. Pavletich now has a team-high three home runs this season and it is his first since Feb. 22 against Missouri State.

The Titans tie a season-high with three home runs in a single game, the last time they hit three home runs was just one week ago on Sunday against UC Santa Barbara. Fullerton now has 12 home runs on the season which is more than they hit during the entire regular season in 2018.

The sixth inning is where the Titans broke the game open as scored six runs on seven hits and two Cal Poly errors. Pavletich, Berryhill, Valenzuela and Isaiah Garcia all recorded RBI in sixth inning to extend Fullerton's lead.

Fullerton started the game one the right note, putting up one run in the top of the first inning to set the tone early. Hank LoForte started the game with a leadoff walk followed by a single from Berryhill before Valenzuela singled to drive in LoForte from third. The Titans are now 8-2 when they score first.

Michael Knorr started the game for Fullerton and went 3.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits. Knorr did not earn a decision, however, the Titans are now 6-2 when Knorr starts on the mound.

Dillon Brown earned the win as he gave up just one hit in 0.2 innings of work. Michael Weisberg closed out the final inning for Fullerton and didn't give up a single hit while striking out two of the final three batters.

The Titans return to action Tuesday with a midweek series against USC on the road before hosting San Diego State at Goodwin Field in a three-game nonconference series.
