SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Titans (8-10) made a gutsy effort at a comeback in the eighth inning but ultimately fell short to San Diego, 6-2, Tuesday night at Fowler Park.

Fullerton fell into an early hole to San Diego (15-6), giving up five runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Only three of the five runs given up were earned.

Titans fans who made the trip to Fowler Park sat on pins and needles in the stands as Hank LoForte's on-base streak came down to what appeared would be his final at-bat of the evening in the eighth inning.

With a one-and-one count LoForte crushed the ball to right field for a leadoff double, extending his on-base streak to 63 consecutive games, bringing the crowd to its feet to applaud the seniors spectacular streak.

Following LoForte's momentum boosting play, the Titans went on to score two runs in the eighth, appearing like they were going to make a run at a comeback in the final two innings of play. However, the Titans were unable to produce any runs in the ninth inning.

Mitchell Berryhill extended a couple of his own streaks, as he has now recorded a hit in nine straight games and is boasting a 27-game on-base streak dating back to last season.

In the bottom of the second inning Timothy Josten came on in relief and was all but perfect as he faced 10 batters and didn't allow a single hit. In his last four appearances combined, Josten has only given up two runs.

Fullerton looks to bounce back this weekend against its rivals, Long Beach State, in a nonconference series beginning Friday at Blair Field.
