Fullerton Hosts USC at Goodwin Field Tuesday

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton stays home for a mid-week match up against the USC Trojans on Tuesday with first pitch at 6:00 p.m. PT.  

Coming off a high-scoring weekend, the Titans had multiple players that have stood out so far this season. Hank LoForte has extended his on-base streak to 58 games. LoForte went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run in the final game of the New Mexico series. For the season he is hitting .364 with a .410 on-base percentage.

Isaiah Garcia had a big part in the Titans season-highs in both runs and hits as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs including a double and a home run. Garcia blasted a two-run homer to left center-field in the seventh to break the tie and put the Titans up 9-7.

Several of the veteran players have been key to the Titans success this season including Sahid Valenzuela and Mitchell Berryhill. This season Valenzuela has earned a batting average of .373 and an on-base percentage of.467. Berryhill is leading the team in hitting with the highest batting average of .390 and a high on-base percentage of .479. 

A pair of freshman did well last weekend, Kameron Guangorena and Jason Brandow have gotten some momentum early in their first season as Titans. Guangorena has appeared in 12 games and hit 3 RBIs, and Brandow has appeared 9 games while acquiring a batting average of .333. 

Sophomore Timothy Josten will be starting on the mound. So far this season, Josten has started in 3 of the 4 games he has played in. After pitching 12 innings, he is maintaining an average of 9.75 strikeouts per game.

The USC Trojans are currently 5-9 this season, coming off a rough weekend at the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic as they went 1-2.  Starting on the mound will be sophomore pitcher Brian Gursky. So far this season, Gursky has appeared in 4 games and has an ERA. of 7.36 and an on-base percentage of .267.
