Diemer Named Academic All-District

FULLERTON, Calif. – Junior Austin Diemer was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District VIII First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced today. 

Diemer earned his second consecutive selection to the All-District Team after earning a selection in 2013 as a sophomore. He will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team Ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

Diemer was also one of three players from the Big West Conference selected to the All-District Teaam. The Rocklin, Calif. native adds to his list of academic accolades as he was also named the 2013 Big West Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was also named to the Big West Conference All-Academic Team in 2013. The Communications/Broadcast Journalism major currently boasts a 3.77 GPA and has earned Dean's List honors in each of his semesters as a Titan.

In 2014, Diemer has appeared in 39 games and started in 35 of them. He is currently batting .239 with five doubles and 21 runs scored on the season. He's stolen six bases in seven attempts and is second on the team with two triples on the season to go along with five doubles.
