Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Colorado Rockies.
AS A JUNIOR (2014)
Had his best statistical season as a Titan, posting a 1.68 ERA in
15 starts, ranking fifth on the Titans all-time single season
record book... Tossed 112 and 2/3 innings, ranking second on the
team, and allowed just 21 earned runs... Recorded four
complete-games and fanned 86 batters while allowing just 12
walks... His 0.96 walks per nine innings average ranked second in
the Big West, 11th in the nation and was the fifth best
single-season mark in Titans history... Earned All-Big West Second
Team honors for the first time in his career... Made eight starts
in conference and compiled a 3-1 record with a 1.29 ERA, tossing
three complete games and two complete-game shutouts while fanning
47 batters and walking six in 63 innings of work... Had a 0.90 WHIP
to rank third in the conference and 14th in the nation... His 7.17
strikeout-to-walk ratio ranked second in the Big West and 10th in
the nation... Was the second Titans pitcher this season to toss 10
innings in a game, two days after teammate Thomas Eshelman tossed a
10-inning complete-game shutout... Was named to the Stillwater
All-Regional Team after tossing eight innings in the Titans 4-3
victory over No. 19 Nebraska in an elimination game on June 1...
Struck out a career-high 10 batters on Feb. 23 against San
Francisco... Was second on the team with 12 quality starts and went
at least six innings in 12 of his 15 starts... Struck out seven or
more batters on six occassions and allowed more than three earned
runs in a start just once.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2013)
Cal State Fullerton’s Sunday starter, finished the season
with a 9-3 record and 3.27 ERA in 16 starts…was named Big
West Conference honorable mention and was voted to the Fullerton
All-Regional Team…tossed a total of 104 and 2/3 innings,
striking out 76 while walking just 13…1.12 walks allowed per
9.0 innings ranked 13th in the country and 5.85
strikeout-to-walk ratio rated 21st in the
nation…in 16 starts, totaled 11 quality starts and was part
of three combined shutouts…tossed a complete game in the
postseason, holding Columbia to one run on three hits in nine
innings of work while striking out four as Fullerton prevailed 4-1
(05/31)…pitched seven and 1/3 shutout innings while striking
out five in a series-sweeping 7-0 victory at TCU
(02/24)…struck out a season-high nine and held Long Beach
State to one run in eight innings of work in a series-sweeping 2-1
win (03/24)…tossed seven shutout innings in 25-0
series-sweeping win over Pacific (03/30)…tossed eight
shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out five
in a series-winning 5-0 victory at Hawai’i (04/28).
AS A FRESHMAN (2012)
Grahamm Wiest stepped right into the starting
rotation on the opening weekend as a true freshman and, after
missing three weeks with a minor injury, started every weekend
after March 24 • Earned Freshman All-American honors from
Collegiate Baseball • Posted a 5-5 record with a 3.12 ERA in
16 appearances including 11 starts • Had 1 save (1.1 IP, 0 R,
vs. Long Beach State on March 16) • Hurled 86 and 2/3 innings
pitched (second most on staff) and allowed only 65 hits and 18
walks while striking out 57 • Held opponents to a .210 batting
average • Shared team lead with three complete games – a
5-1 loss to Cal State Northridge on Apr. 1, a 10-0 shutout win at
Pacific on May 6 and a 1-0 loss to UC Riverside on May 20 in the
home finale • Struck out a high of eight in 7and 1/3 innings
of a 9-3 win at UC Santa Barbara • After a 1-3 start, won four
consecutive in decisions (Apr. 7-May 13) before losing two of final
three starts • Picked up first collegiate win (4-3) in second
appearance, in relief, with four scoreless innings at Texas A&M
on March 11 • In Big West Conference games was 4-3 with a 2.45
ERA in eight starts (58.2 IP).
AS A REDSHIRT (2011)
Did not appear in any games. Was granted a redshirt
season.
HIGH SCHOOL
Was a three-year letter winner for the Lions of JSerra
High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. • Was high school
teammates with current Titan teammate Clay Williamson in 2009 and
2010 • Pitched for Head Coach and former Titan All-Big West
Conference catcher Brett Kay • Was 5-3 with a 3.31 ERA as a
sophomore • Won a career-high 6 games in 2009 as a junior and
posted a career best ERA of 1.61 while striking out 53 batters
• Was 5-3 with a 3.02 ERA and 70 strikeouts as a senior •
Went to Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., as a
freshman.
