Nine Titans to Regionals

New Orleans, LA - Nine Cal State Fullerton student-athletes have qualified to compete in eight events at the NCAA West Regional Track and Field Championships at the University of Texas in Austin beginning May 27.

The highest seeded Titan is junior Ciara Short, ranked fourth in the 400 meters at 52.37. She also is ranked 17th in the 200 meters at 23.70 and is part of the 19th-ranked 4x100 relay team consisting of herself, Lauren Williams, Chazz Evans and Carol Chang that clocked a best of 45.52. Williams also will compete in the 100 meter hurdles, where she is seeded No. 13 at 13.41.

Other Titans qualified for Regionals are Jameena Hunt, 13th in the discus at 51.47 meters; Carolyn Ellis, 26th in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:30.36; Julius Joseph, 39th in the hammer throw at 57.10 meters; Laron Brown, tied for 35th in the high jump at 2.09 meters; and Lamar Oliphant, the 48th and final high jumper qualified at 2.07 meters.

The East Regionals will be held the same day in Greensboro, North Carolina. The finals are June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
