LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men and women's track and field team ended competition at the University of California, San Diego Triton Invitational on Saturday in La Jolla, Calif. behind Nick Sole's two top-five finishes in the 100-meter and 200m dash and senior Tejera Dial's record-breaking performance in the 1,500m run.

Dial was the top finisher for the Titan women runners on the weekend, taking third-place overall in the 1,500m run.  Dial finished the race in a personal-best 4:27.54 sec., shattering her previous-best time of 4:35.48 sec. set at the UC Riverside Spring Classic.  The senior broke Mary Kenny's record of 4:28.50 sec. that had been standing atop the Fullerton record book for the event for 26 years.

Five other Titan women finished in the top five of their respective events on Saturday, Morgan Thompson in the 200m dash (9th, 24.90 sec.), Arianna Fuentes in the 3,000m steeple chase (7th, 11:41.20 sec.), Pamela Pelayo (6th, 11:31.78 sec.), Amanda Crissinger in the 3,000m steeple chase (10th, 12:13.65 sec.) and Deena Pierce in the 400m run (8th, 1:02.56 sec.).

Sole competed in two sprinting events on Saturday afternoon, taking second place in the 200m dash after crossing the finish line in 22.052 seconds.  Fellow Titan, Joshua Gordon, finished with a time of 22.054 sec. that left him just behind Sole in third place.  The San Jose native finished his day with a fourth place finish in the 100m dash, running the race in under 11 seconds after clocking in at 10.88 sec.

Two Fullerton sprinters rounded out the top ten in the 200m dash after Chaz Harmon finished seventh place (22.43 sec.) and Keawe Tolson ninth (22.61 sec.).

Steven Williams came back to the high-jump competition, after not participating in the event last week, and took home second-place overall in La Jolla.  Williams cleared 2.01 meters to earn the best finish for any Titan jumper on the afternoon.  Malik Johnson, who won the event at the Big West Challenge at Titan Track Complex, finished in eighth place after clearing 1.96m.

Jonathan Tolentino was the sole competitor for Fullerton in the men's triple jump and took home ninth place after a jump of 13.20m.  Brooke Hardge had the best finish for the Titan women in the long jump event on Saturday night, taking 17th place with a jump of 5.35m.

Laura Hamann stole the spotlight for the Titan women in the triple jump event, setting a personal-best distance of 37-feet-6 inches.  The jump was the best jump of the freshman's career by over 13 inches in her fourth time competing in the event in her debut season at Fullerton.

The Titan throwers split action with the women kicking off the weekend's events on Friday in the hammer throw and the men competing on Saturday on the final day of competition.  Trevor Gorwin took home the best throw for the Titan in the shot put, finishing 14th after his throw traveled 15.72m.  Teammate Steven Parsons was the top finisher for Fullerton in the hammer throw, posting a 52.06m throw and finishing 20th.

The Titans head to Irvine, Calif. for the Steve Scott Invitational one-day meet on Friday and finish out their weekend in Northridge, Calif. to compete against Big West Conference foe CSUN and Fresno State.
