FULLERTON, Calif.- Senior Katie Wilson led the Cal State Fullerton track and field team over the weekend, as she ran a 54.60 to win the 400-meter dash Saturday at the Cal/Nevada Championships in La Jolla, Calif.

The Titan women put up 68.50 points to finish in sixth, while the Fullerton men posted 63 to finish seventh over the weekend.

Wilson's new time is good for third fastest in the conference as she also owns the top time in the conference (54.38), which she set at the UC Irvine Spring Break on March 22. Wilson also ran a 24.96 in the 200-meter dash to finish second in her heat over the weekend. Freshman Destinee Brown also lit things up for the Titan women, as she ran a 24.13 in the 200-meter dash to finish second in the finals, while teammate Ashley Sims finished fourth with a time of 24.65.

The Titan women also had a big day in the 4x100m relay as a team comprised of Janaya Shorty, Brown, Wilson, and Sims took home first place after posting a personal best time of 3:43.40.

The Titans also got another top-three finish on Saturday as sophomore Alexandria Stewart placed third in the 100-meter dash with a personal record of 12.01. In the field events, Jasmyne Davis finished second in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 39-08.50 and Ty'Jalayah Robertson placed fourth in the high jump (5-04.25).

The Titan men were led by Malik Johnson and Cliff King who each won their events on Saturday. Johnson took home first in the high jump with a personal record of 6-08.75, while King had a hammer throw of 146-06 to win his flight.

Luis Matos and Taylor Ros both placed fifth in their respective event on Saturday as Matos ran a season best 10.78 in the 100-meter dash finals, while Ros posted a time of 49.36 in the 400-meter dash finals. Brandon Cook (1:53.26) and Shelby Hernandez Jr. (1:53.29), who both qualified for the 800-meter run finals, finished fifth and sixth, respectively on Saturday.

Freshman Gilbert Solorza took home third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:21.44 and in the 1500-meter run Ana Valdovinos finished fifth with a time of 4:39.91.

Also in the field events Paris Pijuan (pole vault) posted a jump of 15-11.0 to finish fourth, Emmett Kellogg (triple jump) finished fourth with a best of 43-11.25, and Steven Parsons (hammer throw) finished third in his flight with a throw of 160-02. On Friday  Malek Walls had a season best in the long jump with a jump of 23-02.75

Next week the Titans will prepare the Big West Challenge in Irvine, Calif.
