FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton track and field program will send 60-plus athletes down to La Jolla, Calif., for the California/Nevada Championships this Friday and Saturday hosted by UC San Diego.

The Titans look to make some more noise for the second consecutive weekend, as Destinee Brown and Daniel York-Mouton look to improve on superb times. Brown will try and build on a personal best time of 23.83 in the 200-meter dash, which currently ranks second in the Big West, while Daniel York-Mouton aims to make his mark in the 400-meter dash this weekend, as his current time of 47.95 ranks second in the Big West.

Jasmyne Davis (triple Jump), Malik Johnson (high jump), and Paris Pijuan (pole vault) will be top athletes to watch for Fullerton in the field events, as Davis currently ranks seventh in the conference in the triple jump (38'9"). Johnson ranks second in the league in the men's high jump (6'6.75") and Pijuan ranks third in the Big West in the men's pole vault (16'0.75").

Events will get underway with the men's hammer throw Friday at noon and will conclude with the men's 4x400m relay Saturday afternoon at 4:35 p.m.

2013 Cal/Nevada Championships

At least season's Cal/Nevada Championship the Titan had three top six finishes in the men's 800-meter finals. Sean Krinik set a new school record running a 1.51.15 in the 800-meter, while Javon May finished fifth in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Walter Whitaker also took second in the triple jump (14.52m).

Lauren McIntyre (17:51.01) and Katie Bathgate (17:51.80) highlighted the women's side as they placed sixth and seventh respectively in the women's 5000-mter run. Over the weekend last season the Titan men finished ninth and the women finished 12th.

Taking a Look Back at Last Weekend's UC Riverside Invitational

Cal State Fullerton finished fourth and fifth in the men's and women's, respectively last weekend at the UC Riverside Invitational.

The women's 4x100m relay team set a new school record with a time of 45.22 and a team comprised of Alexandria Stewart, Destinee Brown, Katie Wilson, and Ashley Sims. Brown also posted a personal best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.64, while Wilson performed a season-best in the 400-meter with a time of 24.31. Junior Deena Pierce also executed a season best time of 14.11 in the 100-meter hurdles.

On the men's side, Daniel York-Mouton won the 400-meter race with a time of 48.30 and helped the 4x400m relay team win with a time of 3:14.73. Shelby Hernandez Jr. also set a personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 1:53.64, while Jasmyne Davis finished sixth in the triple jump with a personal best of 18-09.75.

After competing in the Cal/Nevada Championships this weekend, the Titans will next head to compete in the Big West Challenge in Irvine, Calif., on April 11.
