Titan Track Athletes Record Solid Performances at Mt. SAC Relays

FULLERTON, Calif.—Bryan Luther, Deena Pierce, and Javon May all recorded personal bests in the in the 200-meter dash, 100 and 400-meter hurdles respectively to lead the Titans over the weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays.

 

Luther ran a personal best time of 21.44 and placed second in the 200 meter dash, which now is the best time in the Big West and ranks 85th in the NCAA West Region

 

May also recorded a personal best mark of 52.22 and placed second in the men's 400-meter hurdles, which ranks as the third-best time in the Big West and 31st in the NCAA West Region.

 

Luther and May also helped lead the Fullerton men's 4x400 meter relay squad, as it dropped its time by nearly three seconds, as it ran a season best 3:14.98.

 

Walter Whitaker highlighted things for Titan field athletes, as he recorded a leap of 14.91 in the men's triple jump, keeping him at third in the league for that event.

 
 

On the women's side, Pierce ran a time of 13.87 and placed third in section four of the 100-meter hurdles over the weekend to vault her up to second place in the conference, just behind Kayla Carters' (UC Davis) mark of 13.81. Katie Wilson also recorded another solid outing, as she ran a time of 54.91 and placed 13th in the women's 400-meter dash to stay at fourth place in the conference.

 

Ashley Sims once again didn't disappoint, as she ran personal best 24.18 in the women's 200-meter dash and put herself in a tie for third place in the conference.

 

While half the team was at Mt. SAC, the other half competed at the Beach Invite in Cerritos, California over the weekend.

 

Lexie Bravo led that crew, running a personal best 37:28.27 in the women's 10K, while Jasiri Blake posted a personal best 12.22 in the 100-meter dash and Jasmyne Davis recorded an outdoor season best jump of 11.80 meters in the triple jump.

 

For the men, Joshua Gordan (49.17) and Thomas Grimes (22'9) led the way, each recording personal bests in the 400-meter dash and long jump.

 

The Titans now look ahead to this weekend, where the full squad will be back together at the Steve Scott Invitational this Saturday and Sunday in Irvine, California.
