Krinik Sets New School Record in 800-Meter to Lead Titans

LA JOLLA, Calif.—Cal State Fullerton sported three top six finishes in the men's 800-meter finals on Saturday to highlight the action for the Titans at the Cal/ Nevada Championships over the weekend.

 

Sean Krinik set a new school record running a 1.51.15 in the 800-meter and placing second, while AJ Pulice (1:52.17) finished just behind him in third, and Brandon Cook (1:53.13) placed sixth.

 

Javon May finished fifth in the men's 400-meter hurdles final, recording a season-best time of 53.29, while also guiding the Titans to a sixth place finish in the men's 4x400 relay.

 

Walter Whitaker once again found himself on the podium at the end of the day, as he took second in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.52. Lauren McIntyre (17:51.01) and Katie Bathgate (17:51.80) highlighted the women's side, with each placing sixth and seventh respectively in the women's 5000-meter run. McIntyre also set a new personal best in the event.

 

Ana Valdovinos set a new personal best in the women's 1500, running a time of 4:43.65 and placing fourth, while Emily Taylor also set a new personal best in the same event, as she ran a 4:45.93 and finished fifth.

 

"Overall it wasn't the weekend we were hoping for," said head coach John Elders. "We'll now go back to the drawing board and hope to get back on track for next week."

 

The Titans will now head across the country to Gainesville, Florida, where Fullerton will compete in the Florida Relays April 4-6th.
