FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's Indoor Track and Field team will split up during the Valentines Day weekend as the distance runners will head back to Seattle, Wash. to take part in the Husky Invitational and the rest of the squad will travel to Flagstaff, Ariz. to compete in the Northern Arizona University Invite.

Husky Invitational
Fullerton school record holder, Tejera Dial, will carry the torch in the individual competitions for the Titans at the Husky Invitational this weekend.  Dial will be running in the 800 meter run for the second time this season after a solid 2015-debut time of 2:19.58 at the UW Invitational.  Two separate Cal State Fullerton teams will round out the weekend in the distance medley relay; team "A" will consist of Arianna Fuentes, Tijerra Lynch, Tejera Dial and Katie Bathgate.  Also taking part in the relay will be team "B" comprised of Pamela Pelayo, Ruby Rodriguez, Michelle Botello and Celinda Manzo.

NAU Invitational

Sprints/Hurdles

The most well represented group at the NAU Invite this weekend will be the sprinters, as 15 Titan student-athletes will vie for the top spots in the 60-meter dash, 200m dash, 400m dash and the 60m hurdles.  Freshman Laura Hamann will enter the 60m dash for the second time this season after participating in the event at the UNM Lobo Collegiate Invite on Jan. 24.  Alexandria Stewart, Brooke Hardge, and Janaya Shorty will once again take part in the 60m run.

Shorty will lace up for the 200m dash for the second time in 2015 after taking fifth place in the same event at the UW Invitational.  Calaiah Branch and Elizabeth Claustro, Darnisha Loftis-McKnight, Alexandria Stewart and Alexis Stewart will also take part in the event.

India Owens will join Claustro and Branch in the 400m dash at the NAU Invite as the three Titans who have run this event for three-straight meets.  Deena Pierce will make her 2015 debut in the 400m after sitting out the event at the UNM Lobo Collegiate and UW Invitational.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Nicolette Garcia, Ifunanya Gwacham and Leah Stevens will all be participating for the first time this season.  They will join Taylor Frank, Tyler Hardge and Owens on the track on Saturday.
The Titans will feature two squads in the 4x400-meter relay to round out the running events for the weekend.  Team "A" will have Tyler Hardge, Morgan Thompson, Elizabeth Claustro and Janaya Shorty and team "B" will join Alexandria and Alexis Stewart with Darnisha Loftis-McKnight and Calaiah Branch.

Jumps

Fresh off setting a new school record with a jump of 5-feet-6 inches, Ty'Jalayah Robertson will attempt to break her own record when she competes in the high jump competition on Saturday.  Gwacham will also join Robertson as the lone Titans competing.

Hamann and Brooke Hardge will keep the streak of participating in the long jump competition alive in Seattle, as they will look to continue to improve from past meets.  Gwacham will round out her busy weekend by joining in the long jump, as well as the triple jump event with Robertson and Hamann.

Kimberly Amaya and Bryn Williamson will make the trip to Seattle to participate in the open pole vault competition on the first day of the meet.

Throws

The Fullerton throwers will look to keep their streak of top-15 finishes alive in the weight throw as Amanda Mercado, Alexandra Kemp and Jessica Flores will all throw at the NAU Invite.  Catherine Craig and Tayla Shultz will join the three mainstays in the competition for the first time this season.

Mercado and Flores will pull double-duty this weekend, as they will both be taking part in the shot put event on Friday.

Pentathlon

Taylor Frank will compete in the pentathlon for the second-straight meet after taking 14th place at the UW Invitational.  Frank, the school record holder in the pentathlon, will look to improve on the 3,030 points set in her last time out in Seattle.

"We're excited about both competitions this weekend," head coach John Elders said. "We've had two weeks of great practices since the UW Invite, and we're expecting to see more improvements from the ladies this weekend. Since this is our last regular season indoor meet, roster spots for the MPSF Indoor Championships are on the line. We'll see who rises to the top this weekend."
