Pair of Titans Named to NSCAA All-West Region Squad

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior goalkeeper Karen Bardsley and senior defender Erica Janke were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Division I All-West Region squad the organization announced.

It is the second career selection for Bardsley, who was named to the NSCAA's third team as a freshman in 2002. Janke was named to the team for the first time in her career.

Bardsley, a three-time All-Big West Conference First-Team selection who was named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year for the third consecutive season in 2006, was named to the second team after finishing the season 12-8-2 overall in net with eight shutouts and a 1.02 goals against average.

She finishes her career the holder of every major goalkeeping mark in school history, amassing 47 career victories, a 0.84 goals against average, 312 saves, 26 shutouts, and 6,395 minutes played.

Bardsley also holds the top four marks for single-season goals against average, and is also the single-season record holder for victories (16 in 2005), shutouts (10 in 2005), and minutes played (2,031 in 2006).

Janke, a two-time All-Big West First-Team selection who was also named the Big West Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, was named to the third team and became the fourth defender to be named to the NSCAA All-West Region squad, joining Marlene Sandoval (2005), Lindsey Glick (2002), and Michelle Rice (1996).

Janke finished with three goals and an assist on the year.

Cal State Fullerton finished the season 12-8-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Big West in 2006. The Titans clinched their second consecutive Big West Tournament Championship while advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season before falling in the second round.
