Titans Return to Action at Fresno State Classic

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton returns to the links beginning Monday at the Fresno State Classic hosted by the Bulldogs at San Joaquin Country Club.

THE TOURNAMENT: The Fresno State Classic will span two days and feature 54 holes of stroke play. A shotgun start format will be used for all three rounds while team scoring will be 5-count-4. Rounds one and two will be held on Monday and all players will be re-grouped before the final round on Tuesday, based on scores. For the purposes of tournament honors and awards, ties will be split per NCAA Championship tie-breaking procedures.

THE COURSE: The par-72 course will play at 6,119 yards from the Red Tees. A jewel located on the banks of the San Joaquin River known for its fair, but tough test of the game of golf, San Joaquin Country Club (located on the west side of Fresno, Calif.) will serve as the host site of this year's Fresno State Classic.
THE FIELD: The 12-team field is comprised of host Fresno State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Boston University, Cal Poly, Cincinnati, CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Nevada, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, UC Irvine and UC Riverside.

LIVE STATS: Fans can follow the action live courtesy of GolfStat.com. Results following the conclusion of each day will be available on FullertonTitans.com.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Cal State Fullerton senior Martina Edberg earned her fifth career Big West Conference Female Golfer of the Month award and third of the 2016-17 season, the conference announced on March 2.

She began the month with a second-place finish at the Battle at the Rock hosted by UC Riverside. Edberg posted a 5-over 221 at Oak Quarry Golf Club to finish five strokes back of the medalist. She posted nine birdies at the tournament, the second most amongst the 84-player field.

She would follow that performance with another gem at the stacked Bruin Wave Invitational co-hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Edberg was one of 18 individuals ranked in the GolfStat.com top-50 and finished better than all but one; Lilia Vu of UCLA. Edberg finished one stroke back of Vu for medalist honors, posting a 1-over 220. She posted eight birdies at that tournament, which tied for third overall. Edberg also led the field in par-4 (3.93, -2) and par-5 (4.73, -4) scoring average.

Overall this season, Edberg has posted a top-3 finish in all six tournaments Fullerton has played including three medalist finishes. She currently leads the Titans with a 71.33 scoring average in 18 rounds played this season.
