Titans Advances to 4x100m Finals at Penn Relays

FULLERTON, Calif. – On a cold and windy day, the Cal State Fullerton women's 4x100m relay team had one of their best performances of the season on Thursday and will compete in tomorrow's college section finals at the 120th annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

Competing against some of the top schools in the nation such as Oregon, Texas, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M, a relay squad of Alexandria Stewart, Destinee Brown, Katie Wilson, and Ashley Sims ran an impressive time of 46.08 to finish 15th.

With the 15th place finish, Fullerton advances to Friday's college section final, which will take place at 9:25 a.m. PT. The Titans also participated in the 4x400m relay (Janaya Shorty, Deena Pierce, Sims, and Wilson) today and raced to a time of 3:48.76, but unfortunately did not qualify for tomorrow's final.

"I am proud of these young ladies for putting their all on the track," said associate head coach Brandit Copper. "I wanted to take them out of their comfort zone and allow them to compete against some of the top universities in the nation. The goal was to make it back to the finals, which was well accomplished and it's a great day to be a Titan."

Senior Jasmyne Davis will compete tomorrow in the women's triple jump and freshman Destinee Brown will participate in the 100-meter dash with the top times advancing to the finals on Saturday.
