FULLERTON, Calif. – In the women's water polo program's first year of existence, Mia Solorzano earned All-American Honorable Mention, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced Thursday.
"In a season of firsts for the women's water polo squad, it is only fitting that our first student-athlete to commit to Cal State Fullerton earned this award," said Head Coach Kyle Witt. "Mia was fearless when she committed to Fullerton, and her fearless play in the water was recognized by our opponents. Mia played with the heart, tenacity, and talent of the other student-athletes who earned this award, and I am proud of her accomplishments during her first year of Division I competition."
Solorzano helped lead the Titans to a 12-20 record in its first season while scoring 51 goals and recording six assists for a total of 57 points on the year.
Solorzano's all-american honor comes as the third postseason award she has garnered after earning Big West Honorable Mention and being named Big West Freshman of the year.
