GLENDORA, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's water polo fell to Azusa Pacific University, 14-12, after an impressive fight in the first half and final minutes of play. The Titans are 10-15 and 0-4 in Big West play.

Azusa Pacific shot and scored two goals on power play situations in the first two minutes of the game to grab a 2-0 lead over the Titans.

Fullerton's Gabrielle Zaretskiy answered 20 seconds later with an even-strength goal assisted by Mikka Von Scherr to put the Titans on board.

The Titans and Cougars went back and forth in the first period, with Zaretskiy and Kieran Scout Bates adding another goal each to put the Titans down 5-3.

Zaretskiy scored first in the second period, followed by a goal by Mia Solorzano to tie the game 5-5.

The Cougars did not let the Titans grab the lead, adding two more goals to take an 8-5 lead before Kylie Corwin got a shot passed the goalie with four seconds left in the half.

Fullerton let the third period get away from them as they allowed four goals to trail 12-8.

Titans came back from a full timeout hoping to reset and did just that with a made shot by Kieran Scout Bates.

Before the end of the third period, Solorzano deposited two more goals into the net for the Titans.

Two Azusa Pacific goals forced another Fullerton timeout which helped in regrouping again after finding themselves behind 14-8.

Solorzano answered with a goal, and Scout Bates broke double digits for the Titans with help from Hayden Skye Bates. Solorzano and Scout Bates both contributed three goals against the Cougars.

Delaney Wilder kept the momentum going for the Titans with a rocket, putting the Titans down 14-11.

Gabrielle Zaretskiy scored her fourth goal, making it a two-goal game with a minute and a half left. Zaretskiy led the Titans with four goals on 10 shots.

The Titans return to action at home against Cal State East Bay on Thursday at 12 p.m. PT.
