Long Beach, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton lost to Long Beach State, 23-30, 11-30, 28-30 in a Big West Conference volleyball match at The Pyramid Saturday night, dropping to 16-11 overall and 5-8 in conference play.
Long Beach improved to 20-5, 10-2, beating Fullerton for the 48th consecutive time since 1982.
Fullerton's Brittany Moore had a team-high 12 kills, and Breanna Trudeau added 10, but the Titans hit just .102 as a team to the 49ers .312. Michaela Hasalikova led the Long Beach attack with 13 kills, but Alexis Crimes posted 12 of her own and hit .435 to lead all players.
The two teams tied at the net, each notching eight team blocks. Fullerton was lead by freshman Alex Wolnisty who took part in four blocks, while her counterpart, Long Beach blocker Dyanne Lawlor tallied five, including 2 solos.
Lawlor also connected for four service aces to lead all players, while the Cari Bailey served two to pace Fullerton.
Fullerton still has a chance to match the all-time best win total of 18 if they can win the remaining two matches with UC Riverside and San Diego. The Titans and Highlanders will square off in the final league match of the season on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m in Riverside. Then the 2006 season will come to an end on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in San Diego, also at 7 p.m.
