Record-Setting Win For Titans in Riverside

Riverside, Calif. - Brittany Moore slammed 22 kills and hit .327 as Cal State Fullerton downed UC Riverside 3-1 in a Big West Conference volleyball match Thursday night at The Student Recreation Center.

Fullerton evens their record back up at 13-13 overall and 7-7 in conference play. The seventh league win sets a school record for the most conference victories by any Titan team. UC Riverside fell to 6-18, 2-11.

Alex Wolnisty (16) and Deven Bukoski (11) added double figures in kills to add to Moore's second consecutive night with 20-plus kills. Moore also added a game high three aces from the service line and three block assists in the 23-30, 30-18, 30-19, 30-17 victory.

No Highlander reached the 10 kill mark on Thursday night with Angie Mitchell pacing the squad with nine. Mitchell was Riverside's leading point-getter with 11.0 total points.

After a slow start in game one when Fullerton hit just .091, the Titans turned it on hitting .471, .295 and .381 as a team in games two through four, respectively. The Titans out-hit the Highlanders .299 to .100 as a team. Fullerton led wire-to wire in games three and four allowing the Highlanders to tie just twice in the final two frames.

UC Riverside did lead in digs and blocks. Three Riverside players collected double digits in digs with Kimberly McNeal leading the way with 18. Cami Croteau led all players with 22 scoops, while Genie Francisco tacked on 12.

Riverside out-blocked the Titans 11.0 to 9.0 on the night, but Titan freshman Erin Saddler took part in six blocks to lead the floor. Amy Read had four block assists for the Highlanders.

The Titans end their brief two-game road trip with the win in Riverside and travel home for their last two home matches of the year starting Nov. 15 against Cal State Northridge.
