Mustangs Top Titans, 3-0

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Kristina Graven had 14 kills and Jennifer Keddy added 10 more as Cal Poly downed Cal State Fullerton in three straight sets Saturday night in Big West Conference volleyball action at Mott Gym.

With the 20-25, 22-25, 24-26 loss the Titans fall to 9-12 overall and dip to 4-5 in league play. Fullerton finishes the week 0-2 and tumbles from a three-way tie for second place, to at best a tie for fourth place in the Big West.

Cal Poly improves to 10-12, 5-4 and sit in a tie for third place with at least one other team ( awaiting other results for the night.

The Mustangs used just seven players on the night and hit a combined .259, besting the Titans' .174 team average. Graven hit .333 and added six digs and three blocks to the cause.

Fullerton's Kayla Neto was the only Titan in double digits, spiking 12 kills and earning her 12th double-double of the year by adding 10 digs. Leah Maurer and Bre Moeland each contributed 8 kills to the offense.

Cal Poly held a slight edge at the net, out-blocking Fullerton 8.0 to 7.0. Ayana Whitaker (CSF) and Keddy (CP) tied for the match high with five block assists.

Gabrielle Dewberry, coming off a career-high night on Friday, again posted the match high in digs, scooping up 20 for the visiting Titans. Three Mustangs were in double figures with Lauren Law leading the way with 17 digs.

The Titans return home this coming week and will take on Cal State Northridge (Oct. 28) and UC Riverside (Oct. 29). Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Titan Gym.
