Fullerton, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans behind 29 combined kills by Brittany Moore and Deven Bukoski swept the UC Riverside Highlanders, 3-0 (30-27, 30-19, 30-12), Thursday night at Titan Gym in a Big West Conference duel.
The Titans earned their seventh victory by way of the sweep and improve to 13-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Highlanders, continue to struggle and fall to 1-13, 0-3.
Moore led the Titans with 15 kills, hitting .367 on the night, while adding three block assists in the win. Bukoski hit .257 and slammed 14 kills of her own. No UCR players had more kills than Janiece Manuel's eight.
Fullerton dominated at the serving line, baffling Riverside 9-3. Libero Vanessa Vella led all players with three aces, while hitter Kellyanne Kirby found the floor two times.
The Titans on the night hit .285 as a team including .500 in the third and final game. Fullerton's defense held the Highlanders to an .094 attack percentage with Julie Geissert (4) and Moore (3) handling the blocking for Fullerton. Manuel led all players with five blocks, including two of the solo variety.
Fullerton returns to the floor Friday night to conclude a short two-game homestand with UC Davis in a non-conference match-up at 7 p.m.
