Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton improved to 3-0 on the 2006 season behind 25 combined kills by Brittany Moore and Deven Bukoski, leading the Titans to a 3-0 (30-27, 30-28, 30-25) sweep of the Binghamton Bearcats in Game 2 of the Four Points Titan Classic Friday night at Titan Gym.
Binghamton drops to 1-4.
The Titans, who never trailed by more than one point, won their seventh straight game dating back to the season opener, led by Moore who hit .385 on the night with 12 kills. Bukoski led all players with 13 kills and added 14 digs for the double-double.
The Bearcat defended the Titan attack with 78 digs to hold the Titans to a match attack percentage of just. 132. Six players had double-digits in digs, with Katie Robertson and Jacyln Strader leading the Bearcat squad with 14 apiece. The Titans' Vanessa Vella topped all players with 15.
Despite committing 28 hitting errors, the Titans out-killed the Binghamton team 50-37. Freshman Kellyanne Kirby provided a spark off the bench, blasting five kills in her seven opportunities (.714) without an error.
Blocker/Hitter Moore, posted a team high five blocks (2 solos), trailing the Bearcat leader, Ashley Allen, by one for the match-high. Binghamton out-blocked the Titans 9-7 as a team.
Senior Titan Amanda Pfielschiefter led all players by two in service aces as she found the floor three times on the night.
The Titans will play two times on Saturday in day two of the Four Points Titan Classic. Their first game will be at 10 a.m. as they host Weber State, while the sixth and final game of the tourney will begin at 7 p.m. Fullerton will host the College of Charleston.
