Mitch Kallick is in his third season on the Titan coaching staff
and will again serve as the program's primary recruiting
coordinator. On the court, he will be responsible for working with
the outside hitters and defensive specialists.
Last year in the same capacity, Kallick helped develop hitter
Brittany Moore into an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and Big
West Conference Player of the Year, and tutored All-Big West
Conference first-teamer Cami Croteau in the back row.
As a recruiting coordinator, Kallick spearheaded the 2008 Titan
recruiting efforts that were rewarded by PrepVolleyball.com with an
honorable mention nod in its Top Recruiting Class Rankings in
2008.
Kallick, 27, came to Fullerton after a one-year stint as an
assistant coach at the University of Tennessee, where he helped the
2006 Lady Vols to a 19-12 overall record and an NCAA tournament
appearance.
Prior to Tennessee, Kallick spent three seasons as an assistant
coach at his alma mater, New York University, helping to guide the
Violets to one Div. III Elite Eight finish (2005), a pair of Final
Fours (2003 and 2004) and one national championship match in 2003.
For their efforts, the University Athletic Association (UAA) named
the NYU coaching staff Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2003 and
2004.
As a player, Kallick was an All-American for the Violets and
holds university career records for kills (1,925), blocks (543),
block assists (399), points (2354.5), and sets played (417). In his
four-year playing career, Kallick led NYU to two Final Four
finishes (2000 and 2002) and one national championship match in
2000 and was a four-time Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball
Association (EIVA) first-teamer.
Following his collegiate career, the middle hitter played one
professional season for Clube Desportivo de Povoa in Portugal.
In the off-season, Kallick works with Orange County's Impact
Volleyball Club where he guided Impact 15 to a Top 5 finish at the
Junior Olympics in the Summer of 2008.
Kallick will serve as the AVCA Big West Conference Assistant
Coaches' representative in 2009.
Kallick prepped at Green Valley High School in Henderson, Nev.,
and currently resides in Huntington Beach.
