FULLERTON, Calif. – Marisse Turner tallied a career-high 14 kills on a .520 clip to lead the Titans past Weber State 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.
Turner's 14 kills bested her previous career-high of 11 set last season at UC Riverside. She also turned in three digs and a block on Saturday as the Titans took sets one and two before sealing the match win in the fourth.
Lyla Traylor also contributed 14 kills on the afternoon to go along with 15 digs and an ace. Julia Crawford added nine kills, 19 digs and a match-high four aces while Danielle Jefferies had seven kills and a pair of digs. Nadia Koanui posted a match-high 26 digs and Elizabeth Schuster added 33 assists for the Titans.
Teams traded points back and forth to start the match, as a pair of Crawford kills put the Titans in front 9-8. Back-to-back kills from Traylor capped a 5-0 run later in the set to put the Titans up 18-14. The Titans maintained their lead, taking set one 25-21 following an ace from Schuster and a Weber State service error.

The Titans kept their momentum heading into the second set, as a kill by Jefferies and a Traylor ace gave the Titans a 12-9 lead. Kills by Traylor and Turner put the Titans up eight, 21-13, before a 4-0 Weber State run brought the score to 21-17. The Titans finished the set strong, as a kill by Martinez and another from Traylor gave the team a 25-21 set two win.

In the third set, the Titans led 7-2 early before Weber State notched six straight points to take an 8-7 advantage. The Titans kept things close, trailing 20-18 later in the set, but the Wildcats ultimately pulled away to take set three, 25-20.
The Titans capped a 5-0 run in the fourth set to take a 16-10 lead following an ace by Crawford and a Traylor kill. Kills by Turner and Traylor later in the set put the Titans up 22-16. Crawford finished off the match with another kill as the Titans took the fourth set 25-22 and the match 3-1.

Next up, the Titans travel to Phoenix to take on California Baptist on Friday, September 16, and Grand Canyon on Saturday, September 17, at 6:00 p.m. PT.
