Women's Volleyball Drops Home Contest to Hawai'i

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball were swept 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 14-25) at Titan Gym on Friday night against the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine. The Titans fall to 9-12 and 6-8 in Big West Conference play.  

Haley Carmo led the Titans with six kills and Elizabeth Schuster had 27 assists and 16 digs for the game. Brooke Van Sickle led Hawaii with 16 kills for the game.

The first set started well for the Titans who led by five points three separate times (15-10, 18-13, and 21-16). However, Van Sickle went on a huge run for Hawaii and scored five kills in a row to tie the set up at 21-21. Hawaii got a 22-21 lead before Fullerton regained the lead at 23-22. Hawaii finished out the set with three straight points to take the first set 25-23.

In the second set, both sides remained tied until the 13-13 mark. Hawaii would open up a 4-point lead and the Titans could only get as close as three points behind as Hawaii took the second set 25-19.

The third set got away from the Titans early as Hawaii started the set with a 6-1 lead. The Rainbow Wahine would end up taking the third and final set 25-14.

The Titans four-game homestand continues next week with games against UC Santa Barbara and CSUN. The Titans take on UCSB on Friday November 12th. First serve is at 7:00 PM.
