Fullerton Completes Comeback to Defeat Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After falling behind two sets to one, Cal State Fullerton volleyball bounced back to win the match 3-2 in five sets over Cal Poly Friday night.

With the comeback victory the Titans improve to 9-9 and 6-5 in the Big West. Fullerton has now won three consecutive conference games for the first time since 2012. 

The Titans showed their resilience and their ability to respond to adversity throughout the match. In the first set the Titans trailed 24-22 before going on a 4-0 run to take the set 26-24. Fullerton then dropped the next two matches 25-22 and 25-23. 

In the fourth set the Titans trailed 9-6 before rattling off nine straight points to take control as they went on to win 25-20. Fullerton carried that momentum into the fifth as it started on a 6-0 run. The Titans would go on to win the set 15-7. 

Julia Crawford led the team with 17 kills to go along with 13 digs for her 14th double-double of the season. Makena Ala'ilima-Daley had 14 kills with an impressive .355 attacking percentage while Gabriella Barcelos added 11 kills. Neena Dimas had a tied for game-high 23 digs. Elizabeth Schuster recorded a team-high 45 assists. 

Fullerton looks to extend its winning streak Saturday night as the team faces CSU Bakersfield on the road at 5:00 p.m. PT.
