FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball defeated UC Davis 3-1 at Titan Gym on Friday night. The Titans moved to 7-9 for the season and 4-5 in Big West Conference play.

Makena Ala'ilima-Daley led the Titans with 15 kills for the game. Gabrielle Barcelos (12 kills) and Julia Crawford (10 kills) each had double-digit kills. Crawford picked up another double-double with 10 kills and 24 digs. Elizabeth Schuster led the team with 48 assists. Neena Dimas had 24 digs in the game. Amara Aimufua led the Aggies (6-14, 2-7 Big West Conference) with 20 kills.

The Titans hit .290 for the game while the Aggies had a .154 hitting percentage for the game. The Aggies had 23 attack errors compared to the Titans 13 attack errors.

Cal State Fullerton took the opening set 25-21. Both sides traded the opening blows to keep it at 7-7 before UC Davis opened up a 5-point lead at 17-12. The Titans were able to trim the deficit to three points at 20-17 in favor of the Aggies. With momentum on their side, the Titans finished off the set on an 8-1 run to take the first set 25-21 capped off by a kill from Nicole Shuhandler.  

UC Davis took the second set 25-23. The score was knotted up at 20-20 heading into the final points of the set. Fullerton took a 21-20 lead before UC Davis completed the 25-23 set win.

In the third set, the Titans took control early after both sides were tied 3-3. The Titans were able to take a 4-3 lead on a kill by Nicole Shuhandler and never looked back the rest of the set. The Titans got to set point at 24-18 but UC Davis was able to go on a small run before a kill by Shuhandler ended the UC Davis comeback at 25-23.

The fourth and final set was close with UC Davis leading 9-7. The Titans then scored 11 consecutive points to open up a 18-9 lead before Davis scored again. Fullerton finished the fourth set on a 18-2 run to take the fourth set 25-11.

The Titans finish out the weekend with another home game against UC Riverside on Saturday, October 23rd. First serve is set for 5:00 PM.
