FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball defeated UC Irvine in a 3-0 straight sweep Friday night at Titan Gym.  The Titans move to 6-8 for the season and 3-4 in Big West Conference play.  

The Titans hit an extremely efficient .385 for the game as Nicole Shuhandler, Julia Crawford, and Gabrielle Barcelos each had 10 kills. Elizabeth Schuster led the team with 39 assists and 15 digs. Julia Crawford also recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Umeh Joy led the Anteaters (11-5, 4-2 BWC) with 15 kills

The Titans led or were at least tied the entire first set.  At 7-7, the Titans began to break away from the Anteaters on a UCI service error. They opened an 8-point lead at 18-10 and held onto the first set 25-18.

The Titans started the second set by opening up a 5-1 advantage. UCI got to within three points at 10-7 but Fullerton went on an 8-2 run to make it a nine point lead at 18-9 en route to a 25-15 set two win. 

The third and final set remained closely knotted up in the beginning. Both sides got to 12-all before the Titans slowly began to pull away.  An attacking error by the Titans at 21-19 made it a one point game but the Titans were able to fire off four straight points to finish the set 25-20.

The Titans next match is against UC San Diego on Saturday, October 16th.  First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
