WVB Wins 3-1 at CSUN

Northridge, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball won 3-1 at CSUN on Friday night. It is the program's first victory against the Matadors since Nov. 20, 2010. Makena Ala'ilima-Daley and Gabrielle Barcelos led the team with 11 kills each while Julia Crawford posted her 10th double-double of the season and third straight. Setter Elizabeth Schuster had her 10th double-double of the year as well with 42 assists and 15 digs.

Fullerton (5-7, 2-3 Big West) took the first set by a score of 25-20 with zero ties and zero lead changes. Nicole Shuhandler and Barcelos each had three kills to lead the way.

Despite a strong final push from CSUN, the Titans won the second set, 25-23. The set featured six ties and one lead change but Fullerton pulled out the win. Barcelos tallied five kills in the set to lead the attack once again. 

CSUN won a battle of a third set, 25-22. There were 16 ties and eight lead changes in the set. Ala'ilima-Daley tallied six kills to carry the Titans.

In the fourth and final set, Fullerton won 25-22 to secure the second conference victory of the season. There were just three ties and two lead changes. Crawford got going in the attack as she had six kills while Shuhandler had two block assists. She had four overall and one solo for the whole match.

The squad returns to action on Saturday at 6 p.m. PT at UC Santa Barbara.
