FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton is set for a matches against Long Beach State and CSUN this weekend. The Titans will face the rival Sharks on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Pyramid and then head to the Matadome to face the Matadors on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Fullerton is coming off their first Big West win of the season and first since the 2017 season, snapping a 22-conference match losing season. Led by Julia Crawford's eighth double-double of the season (20 kills, 17 digs), the Titans defeated UC Irvine in four sets last Friday. Danielle Jeffries was also a key to the win posting a career-high 14 kills on a phenomenal .393 hit percentage. Savahna Costello led the defense once again posting a match-high 22 digs giving her 1,002 for her career. The junior libero is now just the tenth Titan to ever eclipse 1,000 career digs.
Crawford's performance earned her her second Big West Freshman of the Week honor after taking home the award following the first week of the season.
Looking forward to Friday, Long Beach State has posted a 5-12 record on the season going 2-3 in their first five Big West matches. The Sharks are coming off a sweep of UC Riverside last weekend and have won two of their last three matches. The Titans are down in the all-time series with just five wins in 79 meetings in program history and have lost the last 13 matches.
Going into the weekend, CSUN is 6-11 overall on the season and is 1-4 in Big West action. The Matadors are coming off a five-set loss to UC Davis last weekend after sweeping the Highlanders the week before. In the all-time series, Fullerton trails 11-37 having lost the last 16 matches.
The Titans currently sit in a tie for sixth place with CSUN and UC Irvine in the Big West standings.
