FULLERTON, Calif. - After a tough battle against No. 11 Hawaii last weekend, the Titans will look to bounce back against UC Irvine on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Events Center.
Fullerton took a two-sets to none lead against the Rainbow Wahine and were close to closing the door in the third, but UH rallied back to defeat the Titans in five sets. Julia Crawford had another outstanding match posting her seventh double-double of the season with 20 kills and 15 digs. Makenzi Abelman also recorded a double-double with 36 assists and 15 digs while Savahna Costello led the way defensively again with 30 digs.
For the season, Crawford leads the team with 209 kills and ranks third in the conference averaging 3.87 kills per set. Meanwhile, Costello has a very comfortable lead atop the digs per set leaderboards averaging 5.53 dps, a mark that also ranks seventh in the entire NCAA.
In the program's history, the Titans trail 23-47 all-time and have lost the last 12 matches to the Anteaters.
UCI currently ranks in the bottom two of every statistical category, but are coming off a huge reverse sweep of No. 11 Hawaii. They currently sport a 4-12 record on the year and are 1-3 in conference play.
