FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (7-2) is off to its best start since the 2009 season and will close out their non-conference schedule this weekend at the UC Riverside Classic. The Titans will face Seattle on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and then take on Pennsylvania on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Coming off a pair of wins at the Wildcat Classic, the Titans continue to dominate on the defensive side of the ball. They currently rank second in the nation in digs per set averaging an even 20 dps. Leading the way is junior libero Savahna Costello, who currently ranks seventh in the NCAA at 5.88 digs per set and tenth in total digs with 200.
On the offensive side of the net, freshman sensation Julia Crawford has been leading the charge ranking 44th in the nation with 4.28 kills per set. She currently leads the team with 132.5 points so far this season.
Looking at the opponents for the weekend, the Titans start it off with Seattle University. This will be the second time the two programs will face each other with Fullerton sweeping the Redhawks in the only previous matchup back in 2009. Seattle is currently 6-4 on the year and coming off a 1-2 weekend hosting the Redhawk Invitational.
Fullerton's only other match of the weekend will be against the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. This will be the seventh time the Titans and Quakers face each other with CSF leading the all-time series 5-1. Penn is currently 5-1 on the year having won four straight matches after going a perfect 3-0 last weekend.
