UC IRVINE || AT HAWAI'I
The Cal State Fullerton volleyball team (6-9, 1-0 BWC) returns to action at Titan Gym on Wednesday to host UC Irvine (5-11, 0-2 BWC) in Big West Conference play. Following their home match with the Anteaters, the Titans will travel to Hawai'i for a road match with the No. 13 ranked Rainbow Wahine (9-4, 2-0 BWC). 

QUICK RECAP
On Saturday, Shimen Fayad's match and career-high 27 kills cemented a 3-1 (23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17) victory for the Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball team over UC Riverside in the Big West Conference opener for both teams at Titan Gym. The win for the Titans ended a 19-match conference losing streak that dated back to Nov. 15, 2014, which was also a win over UCR. In addition, Fullerton won its first Big West Conference opener since 2011.

PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR
The Cal State Fullerton volleyball match on Wednesday will feature an in-game DJ and tech wallets will be given away to all fans while supplies last.For CSF students,  Give More, Get More T-shirts will be given away while the first 200 students in attendance will receive Jersey Mike's sandwiches.

TICKETS
Tickets for all Titans home games can be purchased online at FullertonTitans.com, or at the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Titan House on campus off of Gymnasium Drive on the northeast side of Titan Gym. Game day sales and will call tickets will open one hour prior to the scheduled time at the specific venue. All Cal State Fullerton students with a school ID get free admission.

• UC Irvine (5-11, 0-2 BWC) lost a pair of Big West Conference matches at home last week, falling in five sets to CSUN on Thursday, before losing another five-set battle with Long Beach State on Saturday.

HAWAI'I NOTES
• Hawai'i (9-4, 2-0 BWC) is currently ranked No. 13 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association top-25 poll. The Titans are 0-1 against top-25 opponents in 2016.
• The Rainbow Wahine are on a four-match win streak after suffering a five-set loss to then No. 6 Washington on Sept. 11.
• UH opened Big West play with a sweep at UC Santa Barbara and a four-set victory at Cal Poly. UH is at the top of the league standings with Long Beach State and CSUN.
• The Rainbow Wahine lead the Big West Conference in hitting percentage (.262), kills per set (13.38), assists per set (14.28) and service aces per set (1.62).
• Nikki Taylor leads the league averaging 5.35 kills per set and 0.79 service aces per set. Norene Iosia leads the Big West averaging 11.17 assists per set.

2016 SEASON HONORS
Career highs in kills and digs from Shimen Fayad helped the Titan volleyball team win its first conference opener in five years and earned her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Sept. 26.The 6-foot outside hitter tallied 27 kills and 22 digs to spearhead Fullerton to a four-set victory over UC Riverside on Sept. 24. It was Fayad's team-leading ninth double-double of the year.The win over the Highlanders snapped a 19-match Big West Conference losing streak that dated back to Nov. 15, 2014.Fayad, who hit a torrid .390 for the match with just four errors in 59 attempts, became even more productive as the match wore on. She was responsible for 10 of Fullerton's 13 kills, including match point, in the fourth and final set.  She hit .769 in that set.

GAME NOTES
The Titans' 19-match Big West Conference losing streak was snapped in the 3-1 win over UCR on Saturday which dated back to Nov. 15, 2014, when they captured a 3-0 victory over the Highlanders…Shimen Fayad's 27 kills were the most for any Titan in 2016…dating back to 1980, Cal State Fullerton is 5-32 in conference opening matches...playing at home in conference openers, the Titans are 4-14…Cal State Fullerton won its first Big West Conference opener since a 3-0 sweep of Cal Poly at Titan Gym on Sept. 23, 2011...the Titans and Highlanders have opened up Big West Conference play against one another three times with UCR winning meetings at SRC Arena in 2015 and 2002 and the Titans wining at Titan Gym in 2016.

ACES WILD
Shimen Fayad had quite a day at the line in the opening weekend as she served up six aces in one match to help Cal State Fullerton defeat Mississippi Valley State. With her half-dozen service aces, Fayad made her way into the Titans' single-match record book as she tied for fourth most aces in a single match. She now leads the team with 16 aces on the year to average 0.32 per set. 

UP NEXT
After hosting UC Irvine on Wednesday and traveling to Hawaii for a match on Friday, the Titans will play three consecutive home matches hosting UC Davis at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 on ESPN3, Cal Poly at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14 and UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15.
