Titan Volleyball Enjoys Successful Blue-Orange Scrimmage, Alumni Game

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton volleyball team held its annual alumni game and Blue-Orange scrimmage followed by the Welcome Back Fundraiser inside Titan Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The day got started with the alumni match which saw seven former Titans take the court once again as they went up against the 2016 squad. The two teams played three sets and the 2016 Titans defeated the alumni by scores of 15-5 and 25-19 before the alumni came back and took the third set 15-12.

Following the alumni game, the Titans faced off in their annual Blue-Orange scrimmage with head coach Ashley Preston taking the reigns of the Blue Team, while assistant coaches David Butler and Junel Jeffries coached the Orange Squad.

The Blue-Orange scrimmage consisted of three sets all of which were won by the Orange team. Orange took the first set by a score of 25-19 before defeating Blue 25-15 in the second set and completing the sweep with a 15-12 third-set victory.

At the conclusion of the scrimmage, supporters of Titan volleyball made their way upstairs to the volleyball gym for the Welcome Back Fundraiser which featured food from The Original Taco Girls, drinks, a silent auction and a chance to visit with the team and coaching staff.

The scrimmage gave the Titans a chance to hit the court one last time before starting the 2016 season on Friday, August 26 at the UT Chattanooga Tournament.

The Titans' home opener is set for Tuesday, August 30 at 7 p.m. against Niagara.

Titan alumni who made their return to Cal State Fullerton included Jennifer Edmond (2008-11), Brittany More (2005-08), Bre Moreland (2010-13), Ariana Salazar (2013-15), Lauren (Goins) Schoenherr (2001-04), Devin Ulmer (2011-14) and Alex (Wolnisty) Ward (2006-09).
