Matadors Continue to Roll, Titans Fall, 3-0

Northridge, Calif. - Cal State Northridge's Casey Hinger and Mahina Haina each had 11 kills and hit .360-or-better to lead the first-place and 24th-ranked Matadors to a 3-0 win over visiting Cal State Fullerton Thursday night at The Matadome.

The 25-11, 25-16, 25-22 win for the Matadors (18-4, 8-1) is their third straight and eight victory in their last nine matches. They also move into a brief hold on sole possession of first place in the league. UC Santa Barbara (7-1) is idle until Saturday.

Seniors Alyse Hensley (9 kills) and Leah Best (7 kills) led the way offensively for the Titans, who drop to 9-12 overall and 2-7 in Big West action. The loss was the fifth in a row for Fullerton.

Titan setter Julie Consani had the match's only double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs. The junior also added a block and a pair of aces form the service line.

Northridge dominated at the net with 11.5 team blocks (23 block assists) to Fullerton's 6.0 team blocks (eight block assists and two solos). Hinger led the way with seven block assists and also contributed four digs and three aces. Holland Crenshaw had four blocks for the Titans, three block assists and a solo.

Fullerton's next action will be on Saturday at UC Davis (13-9, 5-4). First serve form The Pavilion is at noon.

NOTES: The Titans are now 3-7 all-time on Halloween… Fullerton's .062 attack percentage and 29 kills was the team's second lowest marks of the year, and the lowest since their .018 / 23 kill performance at Hawai'i on Sept. 27 (9 games)... Thursday night's match was the first of the year without a service error.
