Fullerton, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (6-7) remains at Titan Gym this weekend to open Big West Conference play against Cal State Northridge (7 p.m., Friday) and seventh-ranked Hawai'i (7 p.m., Saturday). The Titans hosted the Fullerton Classic last weekend, finishing the tournament with a record of 1-3.

Cal State Northridge enters the week with a record of 9-3, and will open Big West play at home against No. 7 Hawai'i on Wednesday before traveling to Fullerton. The Matadors recently recorded three consecutive sweeps over Rice, Texas Tech and Houston Baptist last weekend to win the title at the Rice Invitational II. CSUN has now won seven of its last eight matches as Britney Graff leads the Matadors with 2.81 kills per set.
The Titans were swept by the Matadors in the 2011 series, and CSF last defeated CSUN, 3-1, on Nov. 10, 2010 in Northridge. The last time Cal State Fullerton defeated Northridge at Titan Gym, it was a three-set sweep on Oct. 14, 2010.
Inside the Numbers: Cal State Northridge ranks second in the Big West with a .237 attacking percentage, while Cal State Fullerton's defense is holding opponents to a .186 clip (5th Big West). Cal State Northridge is limiting opponents to a .165 hitting percentage, while the Matadors' 2.69 blocks per set rank first in the league and the club's 16.37 digs per set rank third.

Natalie Allen's 12-kill, 11-dig double-double led visiting Cal State Northridge to a three-set sweep of Cal State Fullerton at Titan Gym. Twenty-one kills, three aces, nine digs and a solo block by Kayla Neto was wasted as the Titans dropped their third in a row and sixth in their last seven matches. Mahina Haina added 11 kills to Northridge's offensive attack while Casey Hinger and Sydney Gedryn combined for 13 block assists to help the Matadors. Neto had 21 of the 37 kills on the night, with Leah Maurer finishing with the second-most kills on the team with seven. Maurer and Ayana Whitaker each had two blocks for Fullerton which was out blocked 12.0 to 6.0.

Last season, a record 1,026 spectators filled Titan Gym to watch Fullerton take on one of the most successful volleyball program's in NCAA history. The Rainbow Wahine (7-2) will return to Fullerton on Saturday, as part of their first road trip of the season. Seventh-ranked Hawai'i will play Cal State Northridge on Wednesday and UC Riverside on Friday, before visiting Titan Gym on Saturday. The Rainbow Wahine (7-2) hosted three consecutive tournaments at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, and have recorded impressive wins over Stanford, Baylor and San Diego State. UH's two losses have been to Pac-12 opponents in defeats to California, and most recently UCLA.
Hawai'i is attacking at a clip of .283, which leads the Big West, and is holding opponents to a .184 attacking percentage. The Rainbow Wahine's 14.55 kills per set also top the league. Emily Hartong leads Hawai'i and the Big West averaging 4.30 kills per set, followed by Jane Croson (3.97 k/s, 3rd Big West). Hawai'i has made 30 trips to the postseason, and the Rainbow Wahine have won 21 conference championships, including five in the Big West (1987-90, 1995). UH was previously a member of the BWC from 1985-95.

Kanani Danielson blasted a match-high 20 kills and hit .326 to lift the third-ranked Hawaii Rainbow Wahine to a 3-1 volleyball victory over Cal State Fullerton Friday night in front of a record 1,026 fans in Titan Gym.
Fullerton which was being televised from Titan Gym for the first time on ESPN3, came out firing on all cylinders, hitting .395 as a team behind five kills each by Kayla Neto and Jennifer Edmond to take the first set, 25-14. They had also held the `Bows to just a .150 mark in that first set, but the visitors never hit lower than .306 in any remaining set to close out the match, 25-16, 25-17, 25-9.
Neto had 12 kills, 6 digs and three blocks to lead the Titans in overall points. Senior Edmond finished with 10 kills in support of Neto in her final match in a Titan uniform. Senior Leah Maurer had nine kills without an error, hit .360 and had a match-high four blocks in her final Titan performance.
Danielson (20 kills, 14 digs) and Jane Croson (13 kills, 14 digs) each had double-doubles for the Western Athletic Conference champions. Shanteal Satele had 10 kills and hit .444. Emily Maeda had a match-high 19 digs.
RECORDS ON THE BRINK: Senior Gabrielle Dewberry has totaled 872 career digs during her four-year career at Cal State Fullerton. This weekend, she needs just 23 digs to crack the Titan all-time top-10 and surpass Angela Lightfoot 's (1988-91) 10th-place total of 894…senior Kayla Neto's 1,268 career kills currently rank sixth all-time at Cal State Fullerton. She needs 14 kills this weekend to move into fifth place, surpassing Becky Howlett's (1990-91) total of 1,281. Neto's 84 service aces rank ninth all-time, and her 254 total blocks rank seventh. Neto's 1,502.5 points rank fifth all-time.
SEASON HIGHS: Junior Leah Best set new season highs with 12 kills vs. Brown last Friday as well as 14 points and nine blocks vs. Santa Clara last Saturday…Kayla Neto set a new season high with 13 digs vs. Oregon State last Saturday…Julie Consani set a new season high with four aces vs. Santa Clara last Saturday…Holland Crenshaw set new season bests totaling 7.5 points against both Brown and Santa Clara, respectively, last weekend…Gabrielle Dewberry set a new season high with 30 digs vs. Santa Clara last Saturday…Bre Moreland totaled 17 digs vs. Brown last Friday, marking a new season high.
A SOLID CAREER: Senior Kayla Neto currently leads the Titans with 181 kills (3.93 k/s) in 2012 – a mark that also ranks sixth in the Big West. In addition, Neto leads the Titans with 18 aces (4th Big West). The Titans have participated in four tournaments in 2012, and Neto has earned all-tourney accolades in two competitions, the Georgia Tech Courtyard Invitational and the Wolfpack Invitational.
With 1,268 career kills, Neto has passed Lauren Goins (1,140 kills from 2001-04) and now sits sixth on Fullerton's all-time kills list. Her next milestone will be Becky Howlett's 1,291 kills (1990-91) for No. 5 all-time. Neto's 3.38 kills per set currently ranks fourth all-time. The Clarksburg native's 207 career block assists also ranks sixth all-time in the history of the volleyball program. She trails No. 5 Erin Saddler (former Big West Player of the Year from 2007-10) by 19 block assists. Neto also ranks seventh all-time in total blocks, 33 behind Saddler. Neto has been a force at the service line as well, and now ranks ninth all-time in Titan history with 84. She is just seven shy of Megan Sabo's 91 aces from 1998-2001.
CONSANI TAKES CONTROL: Sophomore Julie Consani currently ranks seventh in the Big West averaging 9.13 assists per set. The native of Newport Beach, Calif., enjoyed the finest weekend of her young career as the Titans' setter at the Wolfpack Invitational (Sept. 6-7). She posted 10.25 assists per set (123 total) with 29 digs and six blocks, while also managing a career best with 46 assists in a win against the host Nevada Wolfpack. She followed that performance totaling 141 assists (9.40 a/s) last weekend at the Fullerton Classic. She totaled her third 40-plus assist match this season with 41 against Santa Clara last Saturday.
SHOWING THE KID THE ROPES: Junior Leah Best leads the Titans with 43 blocks (0.93 b/s), but rookie Holland Crenshaw is just one shy of that total with 42 (0.91 b/s). Best, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker has nine solo blocks and 34 blocks assists to Crenshaw's four solo blocks and 38 block assists. Best's best performance of the season came last Saturday against Santa Clara, when she stuffed her share of nine attack attempts (3 solo, 6 assists). Crenshaw opened some eyes when she had eight block assists against Sacred Heart on Sept. 2.
AROUND THE BIG WEST: Kayla Neto (6th, 3.93 kps) and Bre Moreland (7th, 3.76 kps) currently rank in the Big West's top 10 in kills per set…Julie Consani ranks seventh in the league with 9.13 assists per set…Bre Moreland leads the Big West with 22 total service aces (0.48 per set)…Kayla Neto's 18 service aces (0.39 per set) rank fourth in the league followed by teammate Gabrielle Dewberry (6th, 15, 0.33 per set)…Dewberry also ranks fourth in the Big West, averaging 4.41 digs per set (203 total).
ALL-TOURNAMENT ACCOLADES:
Fullerton Classic
Senior Gabrielle Dewberry was named to the Fullerton Classic all-tournament team after averaging 4.73 digs per set (71 total) last weekend as the Titans finished the tourney 1-3 with a win over Brown and losses to San Diego State, Santa Clara and Oregon State.
Wolfpack Invitational
Junior Bre Moreland and senior Kayla Neto represented the Titans on the all-tournament team after posting nearly 100 combined kills, 50 combined digs and 11 blocks. Neto edged Moreland in total kills with 23-, 18-, and 9-kill efforts for a total of 50. She also added 26 digs and six blocks. Moreland accumulated her 47 kills with 16-, 20-, and 11-kill performances. Moreland added 26 digs, and six blocks (2 solos) as the Titans finished 2-1 in the three-match tourney. It was Moreland's third all-tournament team in as many tries. It was Neto's second nod.
Pepperdine Tournament
Junior Bre Moreland totaled 29 kills, two aces and 15 digs, and was named to the Pepperdine all-tournament team.
Georgia Tech Courtyard Invitational
The Titans completed the Georgia Tech Courtyard Invitational with a 2-1 record as Bre Moreland and Kayla Neto were named to the all-tournament team. Neto recorded three consecutive matches with double-figure kills – totaling 53 – while adding six service aces, 20 digs and 11 block assists. Moreland recorded her first double-double of the year with 18 kills and 15 digs in a sweep of SMU, while finishing the three matches with 37 kills, five aces, 30 digs and two solo blocks.
