Fullerton Rebounds with a Four Set Win over CSUB

Reno, Nev. - Bre Moreland posted 11 kills and five service aces to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 25-14, victory over CSU Bakersfield Friday afternoon in Virginia Street Gym. 

The Titans finish the Wolfpack Invitational with a record of 2-1, sandwiching wins against Nevada and Bakersfield around a four-set loss to Washington State. Fullerton leaves Reno with a 5-4 overall record and will return to action next Friday in the Fullerton Classic at Titan Gym. The Roadrunners fall to 1-3 on the year.

In addition to Moreland, freshman Lauren Kissell belted 10 kills and hit .381 while Kayla Neto finished with nine kills and four blocks.

Debora Araujo was a one-woman show for the Roadrunners, accumulating 20 kills, 12 digs and five blocks – all team-highs. Kelsee Sawyer was the next best hitter for CSUB, smacking 8 kills in 21 swings.

Fullerton led wire-to-wire over the final two sets and posted a season-best .423 attack percentage in Set 3.  

Julie Consani continued her solid weekend, collecting 34 assists, three kills and three aces in Friday afternoon's affair. For the weekend, the sophomore had four kills, 123 assists, 4 aces, 29 digs and six blocks.

Leah Best again led the Titans at the net, stuffing her share of five would-be kills. Bakersfield's Julia Bowen also had five blocks on the afternoon.
