Rain Threat Postpones Tennis Spring Openers

Jan. 20, 2012

FULLERTON, CA - Due to the threat of rain in the area forecast for Saturday, the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team's season-opening trip to San Diego has been postponed.

The Titans' match against No. 52 San Diego State has been rescheduled for Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. while a future date with No. 33 San Diego has not yet been finalized.

Cal State Fullerton returns five letter winners and welcomes four newcomers for the 2011-12 season under the direction of Head Coach Bill Reynolds, but do not feature a single senior on the roster for the upcoming campaign.

Sophomore Morgan McIntosh, who paced the team with 15 wins as a freshman last season, led the way during the fall portion of the Titans' schedule, posting a 6-3 mark in singles play, including a five-match winning streak at one point.

Freshman Kalika Slevcove also had a solid fall, finishing 5-1 in singles play after winning her final four contests that culminated in the Flight C Championship at the Mstador Invitational.

Fullerton finished 7-17 overall (1-7 in the Big West Conference) a season ago with four singles players (McIntosh, Tiffany Mai, Monica Rodriguez, and Megan Sandford) finishing with 10-or-more victories on the year. The Titans defeated UC Riverside in the first round of the Big West Conference Tournaent, 4-2, before falling to eventual champion Long Beach State, 4-0.

Following its rescheduled match against the Aztecs, Fullerton kicks-off seven consecutive matches at home on Feb. 1 against UC San Diego at 2 p.m.
