FULLERTON, CA - Facing its second-straight opponent from "America's Finest City," the Cal State Fullerton women's team took home its first win of the 2012 campaign, defeating visiting UC San Diego, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.

Opening a seven-match homestand, the Titans evened their record at 1-1 overall on the season while the Tritons fell in their 2012 season opener.

Fullerton jumped out to the quick lead with a doubles point victory as Tiffany Mai and Morgan McIntosh posted an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot following by a victory at No. 2 doubles by Monica Rodriguez and Kalika Slevcove, 8-5.

Five of the six singles matches were then decided in straight sets with the Titans claiming four victories to clinch the match. Fullerton got wins from the top four in its lineup as Mai, McIntosh, Rodriguez, and Slevcove all doubled on the afternoon. UC San Diego's wins came from Tara Vanooteghem at the No. 5 spot and Krystal Mizuguchi in a tiebreaker at the No. 6 position.

Cal State Fullerton returns to the court on Sunday (Feb. 5) at noon as the Titans open Big West Conference play against Cal State Northridge.
