SAN DIEGO, CA - The 2011 dual match season got off to a rocky start for the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team as the Titans were shut out by No. 67 San Diego, 7-0, before falling to No. 57 San Diego State, 6-1, later Saturday afternoon in San Diego.
Fullerton's (0-2 overall) only victory on the day came in singles against the Aztecs as senior Karina Akhmedova earned a straight-set win over Laura Antonana Iriarte, 6-3, 6-0.
The 11 remaining singles matches were all won in straight sets while both the Toreros and Aztecs claimed sweeps in doubles play.
The Titans continue their season on the road on Thursday (Jan. 27) at 1:30 p.m. in Malibu as they take on Pepperdine.
