SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team finished their first day at the ITA Southwestern Regionals on Thursday.
The Titans had one win in doubles and six wins in singles in the first round of 128.
In doubles, the pairing of Natalie Duffy and Diana Yanotoskaya were the only pairing to win their match, 8-6 over Madison Kim/Anna Kern of the University of Hawaii. They advanced to Friday's round of 32 match against Nathalie Rodilosso/Sloane Morra of USC.
The pairing of Camila Garcia and Milena Gevorgyan lost to Mathilde Tranberg/Hana Becirovic Novak (LBSU) 3-8.
The pairing of Mariia Nikitash/Megan Tagaloa lost to Cindy Ung/Victoria Santibanez (CSUN) Lina 5-8.
The pairing of Kaytlin Taylor/Zoe Olmos lost to Sedona Gallagher/Rachel Hanford (ASU) 4-8.
In singles, the TItans found success in the opening round but no Titan was able to make it out of their second match in the round of 64.
Natalie Duffy got an opening round walkover win over Peppi Ramstedt (LBSU). She lost in the round of 64 against Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer 5-7, 2-6.
Milena Gevorgyan won her opening round match against Rhona Cook (LBSU) 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7). She fell in her round of 64 match against Sedona Gallagher (ASU) 0-6, 1-6.
Diana Yanotvskaya won her opening round match against Caroline Goldberg (UCLA) 6-1, 6-4. She fell in her round of 64 match against Andjela Skrobonja (SDSU) 1-6, 4-6.
Mariia Nikitash won her opening round match against Madeline Lamoreaux (GCU) 6-2, 7-6 (7) before falling in her round of 64 match against Tamara Arnold (SDSU) 0-6, 0-6.
Kaytlin Taylor won her opening round match against Kelly Leung (UCSD) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. She lost in her round of 64 match against Ava Catanzarite 0-6, 2-6.
Megan Tagaloa lost her opening match against Alyssia Fossorier (UCI) 2-6, 3-6.
Zoe Olmos lost in her opening round match against Victoria Kalaitzis (USD) 7-6 (7), 5-7, 4-6.
Camila Garcia lost her opening round match against Andreea Velcea (SDSU) 3-6, 0-6.
