IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the Player of the Week honors for tennis on Wednesday. Graduate student Eira Tobrand was named the Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week after her play last week when the Titans went 3-0 against Toledo, Youngstown State, and Utah State.
Eira Tobrand had a perfect week as went 3-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles play. Against Toledo, as the No. 2 doubles pairing, Tobrand and Camila Garcia won their match 6-1. In singles against the Rockets, No. 4 Tobrand defeated her opponent 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (5). In doubles against Youngstown State, No. 2 doubles Tobrand/Garcia defeated their opponent 6-1. As the No. 4 pairing in singles, Tobrand defeated her Penguins opponent 6-0, 7-5. Against Utah State, Tobrand/Garcia were moved to the No.1 doubles pairing and defeated their opponents 6-4. In singles play against the Aggies, Tobrand defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-4.
The Titans remain at home this weekend as they have two games at home. On Friday, they return to Big West play and take on CSUN. On Saturday, the Titans take on a non-conference opponent in Colorado State.
